Public Safety and Homeland Security*

  • Work with current and former police officers to perform traffic stops and learn to cuff and take down unruly suspects

  • Maneuver as a team to defeat terrorists, search the campus for perpetrators, and expand knowledge of the law

  • Visit a 911 call center and the county jail, participate in a student organization, and travel for competitions

Advanced studies students from Public Safety, Forensic Science, or Emergency
Medical Concepts will have the opportunity to participate in the Fire Academy.

911 Telecommunications

  • Gain hands-on training in emergency call-taking protocols, CAD systems, radio communication, and multitasking under pressure.

  • Build skills in crisis management, stress control, and ethical/legal responsibilities for emergency services.

  • Learn directly from guest speakers in law enforcement, fire, and EMS, plus field trips to local dispatch centers.

  • Prepare for immediate workforce entry or advanced training with a strong foundation in the 911 dispatcher’s role.
